Apprentice Maintenance Mechanic

Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and repair electronic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic problems.
- Diagnose and fix issues involving chains, belts, rollers, conveyors, palletizers, and inspection equipment.
- Repair and maintain electrical, mechanical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
- Use hand tools and power tools; may use welding, cutting equipment, and machine tools.
- Perform carpentry work—repairing or modifying structures, cabinets, scaffolds, shelves, offices, fixtures, etc.
- Use brushes and spray guns for painting interiors and exteriors.
- Install and maintain utility lines for gas, water, air, and general plumbing work.
- Inspect, install, relocate, repair, and maintain plant electrical equipment such as motors, switch boxes, panels, instruments, starters, control devices, power circuits, feeders, etc.
- Install, move, repair, and maintain mechanical and electronic devices.
- Remove, install, repair, and check plant mechanical devices and equipment.
- Cut, braz, and weld various metals used in construction of forms, guardrails, catwalks, runways, stairs, etc.
- Work with furnace line personnel to install and adjust oil burners.
- Inspect plant equipment and follow the preventative maintenance program.
- Training:
Apprenticeship is an 8,000‑hour program governed by federally approved national standards, with a minimum of 144 classroom hours each year. - Work schedule:
Monday‑Friday 7a.m.‑3p.m. for training; then rotating shifts over a 28‑day cycle (7 days on 4‑type shifts followed by days off). - All classroom training courses, textbooks, and fees are paid 100% by Anchor Glass Container.
- Strong interest in pursuing an industrial maintenance career in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding, cutting, and machine tools.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts and complete apprenticeship training.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
