Primary PurposeProvide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
The Hospitality-Culinary Arts instructor will be responsible for leading culinary arts instruction, teaching job readiness skills, coordinating guest chefs and field trips, and supervising student‑led meal preparation and dining services for various events held throughout the year. In this program of study, students investigate the impact of the hospitality industry on the local and global economy, marketing foundations and functions, and resource management.
Qualifications:Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teacher certification or corresponding college hours and field certification
- Experience in the hospitality/tourism/culinary arts industry strongly preferred
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Knowledge of food safety policies and procedures
- Ability to market Hospitality-Culinary Arts program to students, staff, parents and business community
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school and environment
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Assist with special events and other duties as assigned
Experience:
- Two (2) years work experience, which includes managerial level responsibilities in one or more of the following areas: high-volume food service; fine dining, or hospitality.
