Primary Purpose

Direct and manage the theatre arts program at the High School and Middle School campuses, providing students with learning activities that support intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements
  • Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
  • Demonstrated competency in theatre arts
  • Experience directing One Act Play
  • Knowledge of core academic subject assigned, curriculum and instruction, and overall operation of theatre arts
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage budget, interpret data, and comply with UIL rules and state regulations
  • Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience
Major Responsibilities Instructional Strategies
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and accommodate individual student differences.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, materials, equipment, and technology.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for students with IEPs.
  • Work with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers; oversee completion.
  • Provide instruction and leadership in all aspects of theatre productions and methodologies.
  • Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify eligibility.
  • Ensure participation at extracurricular events and shows.
  • Coordinate rehearsals, productions, and performances.
  • Use evaluative findings, including student achievement data, to determine program effectiveness.
Student Growth and Development
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned; sponsor approved outside activities.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students and support the district mission.
Classroom Management and Organization
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ development.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selecting instructional materials.
  • Compile, maintain, and file required reports, records, and documents.
  • Accompany and supervise students on out-of-town trip activities.
Budget and Inventory
  • Develop and administer the budget based on program needs.
  • Coordinate fundraising activities and manage funds.
  • Maintain current inventory of fixed assets related to the program.
  • Oversee cleaning, repair, and storage of equipment.
  • Participate in staff development activities.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Comply with federal and state laws and UIL rules.
Communication
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
Professional Growth and Development
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and UIL rules.
Other
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Direct the work of assigned instructional aides.
