Library Assistant

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Library Assistant to join our team in Sharjah, UAE. As a Library Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the Librarian in all aspects of library services, including cataloging, circulation, and reference. This position is open to both Malayalees and Egyptians, and no English language skills are required. Previous experience is not necessary as we provide on-the-job training.

• Assist with cataloging and classifying library materials using the Dewey Decimal System
• Process new library materials, including labeling and shelving
• Assist patrons with locating materials and answering reference questions
• Check out/in library materials using the library's circulation system
• Maintain accurate records of library transactions and patron accounts
• Monitor the condition of library materials and assist with repairs or replacements as needed
• Keep the library clean and organized at all times
• Conduct inventory checks to ensure all materials are present and accounted for
• Assist with developing displays and promoting library programs/events

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
• Fluent in Malayalam or Arabic; basic English language skills preferred but not required
• Strong organizational skills with great attention to detail
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Excellent customer service skills
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
• Previous experience in a library setting is a plus but not required
