Procurement Officer – Glass & Metal Materials

Responsibilities
- Source and procure glass and metal materials, including specialized alloys and custom glass types, ensuring alignment with project specifications and design requirements.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts with suppliers, focusing on cost optimization and value‑added services for each procurement cycle.
- Manage supplier relationships, conduct performance evaluations, and address any quality or delivery issues to ensure consistent supply chain reliability.
- Analyze market trends and identify potential risks related to material availability, price fluctuations, and supplier performance to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
- Oversee the entire procurement process from requisition to delivery, including order placement, tracking, and expediting to maintain project timelines.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and project management teams to understand material needs, specifications, and lead times for upcoming projects.
- Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including purchase orders, invoices, and supplier communications, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Conduct regular audits of supplier invoices and payments, resolving any discrepancies and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Develop and implement cost‑saving initiatives, such as bulk purchasing, alternative material sourcing, and vendor consolidation, to reduce procurement costs.
- Stay informed about industry best practices, new materials, and innovative procurement strategies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the procurement process.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, specifically with glass and metal materials, demonstrating a strong understanding of material specifications and industry standards.
- Proven experience in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships, with a track record of achieving cost savings and improving supply chain performance.
- Strong knowledge of glass and metal materials, including their properties, applications, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in using procurement software and ERP systems, such as SAP or Oracle, for managing purchase orders, inventory, and supplier data.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze market trends, identify risks, and develop mitigation strategies to ensure supply chain resilience.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to make data‑driven decisions and resolve complex issues effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; proficiency in additional languages is a plus, especially if working with international suppliers.
