Job Purpose

The Retail Mortgage Credit Analyst is responsible for assessing and evaluating mortgage loan applications from individual customers to determine creditworthiness and repayment capacity. The role involves analysing financial and non‑financial information, conducting risk assessments, ensuring compliance with the bank's credit policies and regulatory requirements, and making sound credit recommendations to support profitable and prudent mortgage lending.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Review and analyze mortgage loan applications for salaried and self‑employed customers.
  • Assess customers' income, employment stability, debt burden, affordability, and repayment capacity.
  • Calculate Debt Burden Ratio (D ), Loan‑to‑Value (LTV), and other key credit metrics.
  • Verify customer information through supporting documents, credit bureau reports, bank statements, and employer checks.
  • Analyze financial statements and business performance for self‑employed applicants.
  • Evaluate the overall credit risk of mortgage applicants.
  • Identify potential risks, red flags, and mitigating factors.
  • Assess collateral quality, property valuation reports, and legal documentation.
  • Recommend appropriate loan structure, tenor, pricing, and conditions.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit assessment reports and recommendations.
  • Approve applications within delegated authority limits or recommend approval/rejection to higher approval authorities.
  • Ensure consistency and quality of underwriting decisions.
  • Monitor trends in mortgage portfolio performance.
  • Identify early warning signals and emerging risks.
  • Participate in portfolio reviews and remediation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, regulatory guidelines, and lending standards.
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit trail for all decisions.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements.
  • Work closely with Sales, Relationship Managers, Operations, Credit Admin and Real Estate Department.
  • Provide guidance on credit policy interpretation and deal structuring.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance turnaround times and customer experience.
Job Requirements (Qualification/Experience)
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related field.
  • 3 years’ experience in retail credit underwriting.
  • Effective communication skills in English and Arabic.
