Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Direct Student Support
* Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing social, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges
* Conduct risk assessments and provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed
* Support students in developing coping strategies, self-regulation skills, and social-emotional competencies
* Deliver short-term, solution-focused counseling aligned with school-based practice
Case Management and Collaboration
* Serve as a case manager for assigned students, including coordination of services and progress monitoring
* Collaborate with general education and special education staff to support student needs within the classroom setting
* Participate in and contribute to Student Support/MTSS teams, IEP teams, and 504 planning meetings
* Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines
Family and Community Engagement
* Serve as a liaison between school, families, and outside providers/agencies to coordinate care and support student success
* Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding student progress, concerns, and available resources
* Facilitate referrals to community-based mental health and social service providers as appropriate
Crisis Response and School-Based Mental Health
* Participate in building-based crisis response and threat assessment protocols
* Support re-entry planning for students returning from hospitalization, extended absence, or alternative placements
* Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide prevention and intervention initiatives
School-Wide Contributions
* Participate actively in the school-based mental health team
* Collaborate with staff to promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive school climate
* Provide consultation and professional support to staff regarding student mental health and behavioral concerns
* Engage in ongoing professional development related to adolescent mental health, trauma-informed practices, and equity
Qualifications:
* Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
* Licensure required from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) as a School Adjustment Counselor/School Social Worker
* Demonstrated experience working with adolescents in a school or clinical setting
* Knowledge of MTSS, special education law/regulations, and trauma-informed practices
* Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
