Sharon High School is seeking a highly qualified and collaborative School Adjustment Counselor to support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of students in grades 9-12. The Adjustment Counselor works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive, culturally responsive mental health support that promote student well being and access to learning.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Direct Student Support

Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing social, emotional, and/or behavioral challenges
Conduct risk assessments and provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed
Support students in developing coping strategies, self-regulation skills, and social-emotional competencies
Deliver short-term, solution-focused counseling aligned with school-based practice

Case Management and Collaboration

Serve as a case manager for assigned students, including coordination of services and progress monitoring
Collaborate with general education and special education staff to support student needs within the classroom setting
Participate in and contribute to Student Support/MTSS teams, IEP teams, and 504 planning meetings
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines

Family and Community Engagement

Serve as a liaison between school, families, and outside providers/agencies to coordinate care and support student success
Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding student progress, concerns, and available resources
Facilitate referrals to community-based mental health and social service providers as appropriate

Crisis Response and School-Based Mental Health

Participate in building-based crisis response and threat assessment protocols
Support re-entry planning for students returning from hospitalization, extended absence, or alternative placements
Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide prevention and intervention initiatives

School-Wide Contributions

Participate actively in the school-based mental health team
Collaborate with staff to promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive school climate
Provide consultation and professional support to staff regarding student mental health and behavioral concerns
Engage in ongoing professional development related to adolescent mental health, trauma-informed practices, and equity

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
Licensure required from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) as a School Adjustment Counselor/School Social Worker
Demonstrated experience working with adolescents in a school or clinical setting
Knowledge of MTSS, special education law/regulations, and trauma-informed practices
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
