Position Overview

Sharon Public Schools seeks highly qualified, collaborative, and student-centered candidates for an anticipated High School Mathematics Teacher opening for the 2026–2027 school year. We are seeking an educator who is passionate about mathematics instruction, committed to equitable outcomes for all learners, and eager to contribute to a dynamic and collegial department focused on student growth, reasoning, and problem solving.

The successful candidate will join a strong 6–12 mathematics program committed to high-quality instructional practices, collaborative curriculum development, inclusive teaching, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • Valid Massachusetts DESE Mathematics license at the appropriate level
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective mathematics pedagogy and curriculum design
  • Experience teaching or working with high school students preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive instructional practices
  • Experience using instructional technology and digital tools to support student learning
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to contribute positively to department initiatives
  • Interest in contributing to student life beyond the classroom through advising, clubs, or extracurricular involvement
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies Instructional Practice
  • Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned mathematics instruction grounded in conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application
  • Use varied instructional strategies, formative assessment, and differentiation to support diverse learners
  • Foster student discourse, reasoning, problem solving, and productive struggle
  • Utilize data to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions
  • Integrate technology and digital resources to enhance learning
Collaboration and Professional Practice
  • Work collaboratively within Professional Learning Communities to support curriculum development, common assessment work, and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to departmental efforts around vertical alignment, inclusive curriculum practices, and instructional innovation
  • Engage in reflective practice and professional learning aligned to district priorities
  • Partner effectively with families, support staff, counselors, and administrators to promote student success
Commitment to Equity and Inclusion
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and culturally responsive classroom environment with high expectations for all students

    Support equitable access to rigorous mathematics learning for students with varied backgrounds, identities, and learning needs
  • Collaborate with special education and multilingual learner staff to ensure access and support
Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teach multiple sections of high school mathematics courses, with assignments based on department needs
  • Plan and deliver effective instruction aligned with district curriculum and Massachusetts Mathematics Frameworks
  • Develop assessments and use evidence of student learning to adjust instruction
  • Support students’ academic growth and social-emotional development
  • Maintain a positive classroom culture conducive to learning
  • Participate actively in department meetings, professional collaboration, and school initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Fulfill additional professional responsibilities and duties as assigned
