Special Educator and Academic Lab Teacher - Sharon High School -

Starting Date: Immediately

Job Description

The Sharon Public Schools is seeking a 1.0 FTE moderate special education teacher to work with students in an academic lab (learning center) model. The teacher will primarily work with grade 12 students, but grade level assignments are based on student need.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Direct instruction with students based on IEP goals
  • Co‑teaching as appropriate
  • Act as case manager/liaison for students on instructional caseload
  • Develop and implement IEP goals and accommodations
  • Collaboration/consultation with general education teachers and related service providers
  • Communication between home and school
  • Administer and analyze special education assessments as part of the initial and re‑evaluation eligibility process
  • Write evaluation reports including diagnostic impressions and educationally relevant recommendations
  • Facilitate and chair annual review team meetings
  • Complete all necessary IEP process paperwork, including quarterly progress reports

Qualifications:

Experience with the IEP team process and administration of evaluation tools mandatory. Must possess MA DESE Certification. Must have strong written and oral communication skills. Experience with high school math preferred. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience preferred.

This is a full‑time position following the Sharon High School schedule. Salary based on experience and the Sharon Teachers Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
