Job Description

At Atlas, we're providing services that enable communities to flourish and thrive, and if you’re a CMT Field Technician ready to conduct sampling, observations, and perform a variety of tests on construction materials as per established standards and procedures and committed to doing meaningful work, then this is your moment. You’ll communicate with the project team and client on project requirements, testing, observations and results, transport material samples for laboratory analysis, and document field activities in written and digital reports.

Core Responsibilities

Perform field materials testing on soil, asphalt, masonry and concrete and other construction materials in accordance with training and the specified procedures. Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work. Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

Perform occasional laboratory tests on soil, asphalt, masonry and concrete when required to support project objectives.

Read and interpret construction specifications and drawings, and follow operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Prepare timely and accurate reports and documentation of field activities and testing results. Accuracy, attention to detail and timeliness of results required. Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of test data.

Work collaboratively with managers and other staff to ensure safety protocols are followed.

Clean, calibrate, maintain, and store testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results. Maintains equipment in good working order and adheres to related calibration and storage.

High School or GED required, associate's degree preferred, no bachelor's required

Driver's license required

No minimum experience required, will train

Demonstrates effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, consistently meets timelines across varying urgencies, follows written and verbal instructions, able to work under pressure and multitask, and communicates clearly and professionally.

Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 70 pounds on a regular basis

ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade I preferred but not required

Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation preferred but not required

Familiarity with construction practices and materials testing

Ability to travel, preferred but not required

Ability to work over-time

Outdoor working environment with varying weather conditions. May be required to stand for long periods of time and potentially engage in frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting items in excess of 20lbs. Sometimes exposed to hazardous environments that would require PPE (personal protective equipment) to be worn. Frequently on the road and may remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time.

Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and engage in frequent eye/hand/foot coordination.
