OT Network Engineer III
The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of network infrastructure within the operational technology environment. This includes verifying firewall configurations, conducting site discovery, creating the low level site wide network diagrams, and creating firewall ACL lists. The Network Engineer will also be responsible for evaluating network equipment and ensuring proper monitoring and logging.
Key Responsibilities- Verify Firewalls are configured in accordance with standards: Ensure firewall configurations meet organizational standards and security requirements.
- Conduct site discovery using Asset Inventory tools and switch commands: Perform thorough site discovery to gather network information.
- Create firewall ACL lists and host design review sessions to request approval: Develop Access Control Lists and present them for approval.
- Evaluate network equipment for port capacity, speed, and warranty status: Assess network equipment to ensure it meets performance and warranty criteria.
- Configure and troubleshoot approved ACLs in Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls: Implement and resolve issues with Access Control Lists in firewalls.
- Request quotes for equipment replacement if needed: Obtain quotes for replacing network equipment as necessary.
- Add network devices to a network monitoring application: Integrate network devices into monitoring systems for ongoing oversight.
- Coordinate network-related tasks with other team members: Collaborate with team members to ensure successful network operations.
- Network design and implementation: Expertise in designing and implementing network infrastructure.
- Cybersecurity knowledge: Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.
- Communication and coordination skillset: Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Minimum of Associate’s Degree in a technical area (computer science, networking, engineering, Automation, Electrical etc.), Bachelor’s Degree preferred:
Educational background in relevant technical fields. - 5+ years of experience in network design and implementation: Extensive experience in network engineering.
- Experience with Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls: Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting these firewalls.
- Strong problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and resolve network issues effectively.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment: Collaborative mindset and ability to work well with others.
- Willingness to travel as required if required.
- Experience with asset Inventory and network monitoring applications: Familiarity with network discovery and monitoring tools.
- Experience in operational technology environments: Understanding of OT systems and environments.
- Experience in evaluating network equipment: Ability to assess network equipment for performance and warranty status.
- Experience in remote troubleshooting: on network infrastructure in a manufacturing environment.
