Senior Level Diesel Technician
Ryder | Permanent Full Time | Sharonville, Ohio, US
Key Compensation & Schedule- Hourly Pay: $39.58 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter (four times per year)
- Schedule:
Sunday–Thursday, Second Shift 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm

- Technician Tuition Repayment up to $5,000
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair, including standard and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer equipment
- Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Work unsupervised on most tasks
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints
- Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation
- Adhere to all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Support Service Island duties as required
- Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete 2 OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days (fleet mix)
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- At least 3 years of experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines (preferred)
- Valid commercial driver license (CDL) Class A (preferred)
- Additional mandatory certifications required by location
- Minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment
- Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check (including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years)
