The Shawano School District has two openings for a Cross Categorical Special Education Teacher at the Shawano Community High School location. This position supports students with a wide range of disabilities through individualized instruction aligned to IEP goals. Instruction may include academic, functional, social-emotional, and life skills, with an emphasis on preparing students for post-secondary education, employment, and independent living. The Role Responsibilities

The Cross Categorical Special Education Teacher at the high school level provides individualized instruction and support to students with a range of disabilities, addressing academic, functional, social-emotional, and life skills. This role includes developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs; modifying and adapting curriculum to meet diverse learning needs; supervising and supporting paraprofessional staff; and collaborating with families and multidisciplinary team members. The teacher also plays a key role in preparing students for post-secondary transitions, including employment, independent living, post-secondary education or training, and community involvement.

Requirements

As an ideal candidate, you will hold a bachelor's degree in special education or related field and possess strong knowledge of the law as it applies to Special Education;
Best practices for teaching students with disabilities;
Understanding of Special Education evaluations;
Knowledge of IEP paperwork and forms;
Understanding of the various Special Education settings and differences between grade levels;
