Summary
The Stroke Program Clinical Specialist oversees the stroke process improvement and assists in supporting database requirements to maintain certification. Assists with other duties of the stroke center as directed by the stroke program manager.
Job DescriptionUp to 4 hours a week to pick up or 8 hours every pay period. This can be done on evenings or weekends, or days during the week - This is for the Medical/Surgical Unit.
Accountabilities- Monitors stroke patient hospital medical care to ensure compliance to evidence-based care and assists in the identification of any complications or deviation of care.
- Interprets and evaluates data entered into GWTG to identify improvement opportunities with the stroke process improvement committee.
- Participates in performance improvement initiatives utilizing evidence-based practice identified as improvement opportunities through GWTG data.
- Serves as an educational resource by teaching and coaching stroke patients, families, and care team.
- Participates in local and regional meetings.
- Participates in Community Stroke focused events on an annual basis.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN)
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
- SCRN (Stroke Certified Registered Nurse), CNRN (Certified Neurological Registered Nurse) or ENLS (Emergency Neurological Life Support) within 6 months.
- Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance.
- Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties.
- Normally works in climate-controlled office environment.
- Frequent sitting with movement throughout office space.
- Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
- Occasional high noise level in work environment.
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.
- Use of computers throughout the workday.
- Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers.
- Position requires compliance with department specific competencies.
