Foster Care Services Coordinator
This position is responsible to provide, coordinate, and monitor out of home placement services in accordance with local, state, and federal standards. This position will recruit, license, train, and support foster families while ensuring children in out-of-home care have safe and stable placements. This position is also responsible for Kinship Care and Independent Living duties.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Recruit, license, train, and supervise foster homes. Conduct background checks and fingerprinting as required by law. Complete required reviews.
- Provide ongoing consultation, guidance, and support to licensed foster families.
- Assist Child Protective Services staff in identifying appropriate foster care/relative placements.
- Support placement stability by working collaboratively with caregivers, case managers, and services providers.
- Collaborate with neighboring counties, tribal agencies, and private child placing agencies to secure appropriate placements when necessary.
- Consult and collaborate with agency staff and outside resources to assure ongoing communication and service coordination.
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to increase the number and diversity of licensed foster home.
- Promote foster care, respite care, and relative/kinship caregiving opportunities.
- Process Kinship Care applications, determine eligibility and document placement and payroll information.
- Monitor ongoing Kinship Care eligibility and maintain accurate records.
- Provide Independent Living Skills training to youth in out of home care according to State and Federal requirements.
- Assist in writing of grants and funding proposals to support existing services and to develop new programs and community resources.
- Accept requests and referrals for services and determine through interviews, home visits and collateral investigations the range of services needed.
- Maintain accurate and current case records, reports, and other types of correspondence.
- Attend in-service training and staff development activities.
- May speak before community groups on Foster Care, Kinship Care, and Independent Living.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Work Requirements:
Bachelor's of Social Work degree (BSW) from four-year college or university, preferred; or Bachelor's Degree and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. One to two years related experience.
