Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Administrative Specialist position (K0234883) will provide administrative, clerical, and operational support to the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) program. Maintains and enters application information into the CMS Qies national database of Kansas clinical laboratories. Queries this database to answer client questions. Interpret data from FDA's CLIA page to ensure testing complexity is consistent with certificate type. Prepares documents from the CMS database for the enforcement of the CLIA laboratory (42 CFR 493) regulations.
Reviews application submissions for completeness. Interacts with KHEL CLIA staff to facilitate communications between staff and clients regarding CLIA issues. Interacts with federal CLIA staff to resolve payment disputes. Interacts with clinical laboratory clients across Kansas to provide clear guidance on required forms, deadlines, and program processes. Maintains accurate physical and electronic records. Manages shared email inbox and phone lines to route technical questions appropriately.
Serves as the point-of-contact for external Clinical Laboratory inquiries via phone and email. Communicates verbally and in writing to the public on specific processes or procedures. Responding to inquiries from clinical labs necessitates knowledge of medical and regulatory terminology in order to properly assess the inquiry.
Provides administrative, clerical, and operational support to the Environmental Certification Program. Maintains the official accreditation status of all environmental labs enrolled in the program to ensure the availability of court-defensible environmental analysis. Provide clear guidance on required forms, deadlines, and program processes. Review application submissions for completeness. Prepare application files for technical review. Enter, update, and maintain program data in tracking systems.
