Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Operates the facility Information Center receiving and directing calls and serves as receptionist to communications between KJCC and persons who are calling are appropriate, courteous, and this is accomplished in an efficient, helpful, friendly, and professional manner. This includes receiving and directing phone calls, and relaying information, which requires knowledge of the various departments, staff, and juvenile offender's location. Routes interoffice mail frequently throughout the day.
Receives and sorts all incoming mail, assuring that it gets to the appropriate person or department for distribution. Handles Federal, outgoing mail, assuring that all mail is properly stamped and ready to be mailed each weekday. Monitors offender incoming/outgoing mail for restricted letters per policy, inappropriate language, unauthorized packages, and magazines. Must screen mail against restricted list. This is a secure correctional environment in which everything must be considered for safety and security.
Log mail restrictions from hearing results into the Resident's mail log. Create mail logs for new admissions and close out mail logs upon release. Prepare mail to be delivered to the residents daily.

Monitors offender incoming/outgoing mail for restricted letters per policy, inappropriate language, unauthorized packages, and magazines.
Must screen mail against restricted list. This is a secure correctional environment in which everything must be considered for safety and security.
* Log mail restrictions from hearing results into the Resident's mail log.
* Create mail logs for new admissions and close out mail logs upon release.
* Prepare mail to be delivered to the residents daily.
* Update the CDR daily.
* Enter PBS data twice yearly or more frequently as assigned.
* Prepares and distributes the Hearing Docket for the facility. This includes logging the hearing information into a Microsoft Word table and then distributing the information to the appropriate staff.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Six months of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work.
* Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Ability to deal effectively with individuals under restraint. Knowledge of procedures and practices of supervising juvenile offenders confined to a juvenile correctional facility. Ability to stand for long periods of time, respond quickly to emergencies, and use force to subdue violent juvenile offenders.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:
The incumbent must:
* Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
* Must take and pass a drug screen test approved by the Department of Administration
* Complete the TB screening process

* Pass a Department of Children and Family Services check confirming that candidate is not on the Child Abuse Registry.
