The special education teacher (low incidence) is responsible for implementing the district curriculum to maximize student learning, supervising and evaluating all students within the teaching assignment, and supporting IEP meetings and development.
Key Responsibilities- Accommodate, modify and adapt lessons and curriculum as needed to meet individual student needs and IEP goals.
- Support the facilitation of IEP meetings and the development of IEP documents.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental levels and interests of students.
- Set and communicate clear expectations for classroom behavior and school environment using positive reinforcement and behavior modification techniques as needed; assist in the development and implementation of student behavior intervention plans.
- Master’s degree preferred;
Bachelor's degree required. - Valid Kansas Teaching Licensure with Special Education Certification required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience teaching special education preferred.
