Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site 1st Grade Teacher role located in Shawnee, KS. The 1st Grade Teacher will plan and deliver standards-based lessons in core subjects, including literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies, using age-appropriate instructional strategies. Responsibilities include creating a safe and engaging classroom environment, managing classroom routines and behavior, and differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
The teacher will assess student progress using various tools, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with families and guardians about student growth. The role also includes collaborating with grade-level teams and support staff, participating in professional development, and contributing to school-wide initiatives.
- Strong skills in Teaching and Elementary Education to design and deliver effective instruction for 1st grade students.
- Experience or training in Curriculum Development and Education to plan standards-aligned lessons and assessments.
- Excellent Communication skills to work effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
- Appropriate state teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Elementary Education.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required; advanced degree in education or related area is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to create inclusive, culturally responsive, and student-centered learning environments.
- Strong classroom management, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and to collaborate in a team-oriented setting.
