Exceptional Child Education programs are designed to meet the needs of students whose approach to learning differs from that of their peers. The school district is committed to providing high-quality education for students with disabilities. Programs, techniques, methods, and materials are used for individualized instruction. Courses may include students with Moderate to Severe Disabilities (MSD), Mild Mental Disabilities (MMD), Other Health Impairments (OHI), Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (EBD), Autism (AUT), Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impairment (HI), Learning Disabilities (LD), Social Communication, or combinations thereof.

Assignments may change due to student or classroom needs.

Recognizes that all responsibilities are basically supportive. Assists in implementing each student's individualized education plan. Helps establish and maintain a pleasant, safe, and structured learning environment. Displays willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities.

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Passing score on the KPA (Kentucky Para educator Exam) or 48 college semester hours.
• Willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities
• Physical ability and willingness to assist with physical needs of students such as positioning, toileting, and lifting
• Willingness to attend district ECE in-service for professional growth

Salary Range: $18.27/hour - $20.07/hour.
Critical Need Stipend $3.50 per hour & ECE Instructional Assistant Stipend $1.00 per hour.

187 days / 7 hours per day
