Position Summary & Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Audits grant related expenditures for appropriate use and coding, processes voucher payments funded by state and federal grants. Audits transactions for compliance with state accounting policies and procedures; confirms the accuracy of funding and sub object codes; and verifies the appropriate documentation and authorization required for the payment. Routinely creates queries and reports to verify accuracy of voucher payments and payroll expenditures with the agency's funding structure.
Develop processes to ensure the Agency is compliant with Department of Administration guidelines regarding monthly close-out. Run reports and analyze for vouchers which have errors preventing them from fully processing, and work with other team members to resolve.
Lead worker in managing year end closeout of state fiscal year business, preparing expenditure forecasts and other financial management reports. Identifies outstanding obligations and project expenditure funding requirements to ensure that all agency obligations are paid or encumbered prior to close of fiscal year business within funding limitations. Finalizes payments and encumbers outstanding obligations within timelines established by Accounts and Reports.
Ensures encumbrance payments are accurately funded and made within a timely manner.
Cross-trains and serves as a back-up for the other Accountant positions in the unit as assigned during heavy work periods, times of absences or unavailability to ensure that assignments as completed as needed to support the unit's ability to serve the agency. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor, division director or commissioner in support of agency goals.
Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to ensuring the agency is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and/or acts of terrorism. Assists other employees in the work unit in accomplishing assignments as necessary. Recommends revisions in the account structure, ledger or report forms and reporting system.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
* Two years of experience in professional accounting/auditing work.
Preferred:
* Four years of experience
- Business with emphasis in accounting or 24 semester hours of college credit in accounting coursework.
