City Police Department

The City of Council Grove Police Department currently has seven employees: a Chief, a Lieutenant, a K9 Officer, 3 road officers and a part-time officer.

Fleet consists of a Ford Explorer and Chevy Tahoe.

Full-time & Part-Time positions. 12‑hour shifts with every other weekend off (3‑4‑3 schedule). Will be required to work days, evenings, and nights as needed. Holiday work is required.

Salary ranges from $19 to $24 per hour.

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must be a United States Citizen.
• Must have a valid Kansas driver's license with a good driving record.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be in good physical condition.
• Must not have been convicted of a crime of domestic violence, serious traffic or misdemeanor, or any felony or its equivalent.
• KLETC certified or eligible for reciprocity from another state (preferred).
• Must have above average written and oral communication skills.

In addition to a psychological examination, physical examination, and drug screen, we will conduct an extensive background investigation covering previous employment history, references, criminal history, and driving record.
