Deputy Sheriff, Seward County Sheriff's Office

The Seward County Sheriff’s Office is looking for motivated individuals to fill full time Deputy Sheriff position(s). Seward County is located in Southwest Kansas and is mostly a rural community with the exception of the city of Liberal with a population of approximately 18,753 and the city of Kismet with a population of about 329.

The Seward County Sheriff’s Office has 10 Deputy Sheriffs who are overseen by the Sheriff, Undersheriff, Captain, and two Sergeants. Chosen candidates will provide public safety by maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting people and property, enforcing motor vehicle and criminal laws, and promoting great community relations.

We offer multiple opportunities for specialty assignments such as:

  • K-9 Handler
  • Regional SWAT Team
  • Investigations Division
  • Task Force Officer on Regional Drug Task Force
  • School Resource Officer

12 hour shifts on a rotating schedule that allows a 3-day weekend every other week.

Large training budget allows for opportunities to travel for trainings.

Salary: $21.00 per hour for non-certified law enforcement officers. The Seward County Sheriff’s Office offers highly competitive, negotiable salary starting rates for qualified, certified applicants based on prior training and years of service.

Requirements:

-Candidates shall not have any Felony, Domestic Violence, or serious misdemeanor convictions, and/or other criminal or civil legal action pending.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Possess at least a high school diploma or GED
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Must reside within 25 miles of Seward County within 90 days of hire
