Johnson County Mental Health Center is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of On-Call Mental Health Nurse (RN) in the mental health residential programs — Adolescent Center of Treatment, Youth Crisis Stabilization Center, Adult Detox Unit, and Adult Crisis Stabilization Center. The Mental Health RN will work with the Behavioral Health Nursing team to support ACSC, a 24-hour facility providing services for adult clients and assist with admissions at the Youth Crisis Stabilization Center for adolescents.

This role works closely with Clinicians, psychiatrists, service coordinators, and direct care staff to meet individual mental health needs.

The Mental Health Nurse provides direct psychiatric services to both adult and adolescent clients in a residential setting.

Job Duties includes:

• Provides comprehensive nursing services; assesses the holistic needs of individuals by incorporating family and environmental factors; collects and documents patient health history; measures and records vital signs; administers injections; completes health assessments and performs limited exams; obtains, processes, and handles lab specimens; manages, controls and implements medication administration programs; performs minor procedures and treatments within designated area of specialty.
• Completes and submits documentation regarding client care and condition; reviews quality and effectiveness of services provided and documented by other service providers.
• Provides clients and families with supportive resources; educates patients in areas impacting health, wellness, and daily living activities; develops and provides specialized health training and education to staff.
• Provides support with medical and psychiatric care coordination, makes community referrals and follow-up to individuals and/or families; evaluates outcomes, and makes changes, as necessary.

Successful completion of education program in Nursing that meets the requirements for the Registered Nurse license; licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kansas; valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

One year of nursing experience is preferred, though recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
