Cardiothoracic Surgery – Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with First Assist
Advent Health Kansas City
Advent Health Kansas City, a leading faith based not for profit health system, is searching for an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery APP to serve as a First Assist in cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgeries, perform endoscopic vein harvesting, round in hospital pre and post-surgery, and follow-up clinic visits at our Advent Health Shawnee Mission location located in the Kansas City Metro area.
About Our Cardiothoracic Surgery Opportunity- Cardiothoracic surgeons, 5 interventionalists, 8 Non-Invasive cardiologists, 2 Electrophysiologists, and 14 APPs.
- First assist to cardiothoracic surgical procedures
- Schedule includes one dedicated clinic day per week, with the remainder of the week focused in the OR, supporting a high-volume cardiovascular surgery program.
- Call responsibilities:
- Shared 1:3 call rotation with week-long (7-day) coverage blocks
- Inpatient management and surgical coverage, with support from a collaborative team
- Predictable rotation structure to support work‑life balance
- EMR – Epic
- Base Salary (Exempt)
- Sign-on Bonus

- Generous continuing medical education (CME) allowance
- Graduate of an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Minimum 1–2 years of cardiothoracic or cardiovascular surgery experience (strongly preferred)
- Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) experience (preferred)
