Kansas Neurological Institute
The Kansas Neurological Institute (KNI) is an intermediate care facility offering support to approximately 130 residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. KNI practices a person-centered philosophy to support our residents so they can have the quality of life they deserve by recognizing their individuality, honoring their choices, protecting and maintaining their health, helping to build and maintain their relationships with others, and making sure that they are included in every aspect of their lives;
in their homes, in their jobs, and in the community.
KNI has 19 homes with direct support staff assisting with daily living activities in each home throughout four buildings and is located on a large campus, east of the VA hospital in Topeka. KNI is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.
About the Position:
The Nurse Educator is responsible for the training and education of KNI nurses on all aspects nursing nurse educator is primarily responsible for implementing training for new KNI nurses. The nurse educator will assist with the training and implementation of the new EHR. They will also coordinate with the nurse educator to plan and implement the annual nursing skills fair as well as complete other yearly trainings.
The Nurse Educator will help implement nursing staff development and organize CEU trainings at KNI as well as participate in recruitment and retention opportunities for KNI nurses. The nurse educator may also be asked to go to team meetings and provide health care education to home staff when needed. They will investigate and provide education to staff on medication errors.
Compensation/Other Information:
* Hourly Pay Range: $41.24/hr
* Unclassified
* Full-time, M-F, 8-5, hours may vary based on training needs

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
* Must have one year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
* Must be a Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the State of Kansas.
* Must have BLS CPR Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, plus two years of experience in a leadership role
