Retail Cashier

MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries is looking for an energetic, self‑motivated, and professional Retail Cashier to join our Shawnee Store – Mission team. The position is hourly, full‑time, pays $15.50 per hour, and requires no travel.

• Make customers a priority by greeting and acknowledging them as they enter the store, helping on the sales floor, and answering the phone within three rings with a professional greeting.
• Operate the store cash register: handle cash and credit card transactions, apply appropriate discounts and returns, and balance the register.
• Stock, straighten, rotate, and maintain the cleanliness of the entire store area efficiently and to standard.
• Request assistance from managers for returns, exchanges, and customer complaints.
• Maintain store cleanliness standards by sweeping, dusting, mopping, and polishing surfaces.
• Establish and maintain positive and professional relationships with team members and leadership; collaborate cross‑functionally with other teams to improve communication.
• Utilize safe work practices through awareness and observation.
• Contribute to ensuring the workplace is hazard‑free by removing obstructions and keeping aisles and walkways debris‑free.
• Maintain a professional appearance at all times, adhering to the MERS/Goodwill dress code.
• Safeguard agency assets—including cash, donated items, and purchased items—from harm, damage, or theft; report any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession.
• Adhere to all MERS/Goodwill policies, Goodwill Retail procedures, and safety and security regulations.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• No degree is required; a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Effective communication skills with co‑workers, customers, and management.
• Organized and capable of interacting with a diverse work population.
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
