Position

Description:

The Carpenter Senior position works on the Construction Crew for the buildings on the Capitol Complex Campus. This position performs skilled carpentry and concrete work for projects and repairs.

Job Responsibilities:

* Plans, selects materials, lays out and constructs partitions, walls, ceilings, paneling, platforms, doors, window frames, and installs hardware, hinges, handles, locks, hasps, venetian blinds, etc., as specified by request for agencies or as required by repairs or renovation on the Capitol Complex Buildings. This position also alters, repairs and renovates buildings and rooms by removing partitions, doors, door frames and wainscoting.

Work is accomplished using tools of the carpenter trade including hammers, saws, ramset power stud setter, planers, and electrical powered saws, drill press, routers, power shears, etc.

* Plans, selects materials, lays out and installs vinyl flooring, hangs traverse rods, make up forms for concrete work, replaces stair treads, performs renovation of wainscoting, doors and hinges in the State Capitol which must be maintained according to requirement of a building on the National Historic Register. Work is accomplished using tools of the carpenter trade.

* Maintain power and hand tools, sharpens saw blades and chisels, maintains material storage racks and assigns and reviews work of semi-skilled or unskilled helpers and performs related work as required. Work is accomplished using the tools of the carpenter trade. Work is reviewed while in progress and upon completion for results achieved.

* Record keeping. Completes work orders by recording the time and materials expended on each job in order to keep the supervisor informed of these costs. Utilizes current computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to document these costs.

* Participates in a variety of special projects/tasks as designated by supervisor directed at promoting and fostering an attitude of cooperation and teamwork towards co-workers and Division customers.

* Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

* Two years of experience as a carpenter.
* Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
