Job Summary
The Distribution Expeditor is responsible for the timely movement of goods through the distribution center. You will oversee the transition of products from "receiving" to "inventory" and finally to "outbound shipping." Your goal is to minimize dwell time, resolve shipping discrepancies, and ensure that high-priority shipments (hot orders) are processed with urgency to meet customer delivery windows.

Key Responsibilities- Inbound/Outbound Coordination:
Monitor the dock schedule to ensure trailers are loaded and unloaded according to the daily priority list. - "Hot Order" Management:
Identify high-priority or backordered items and "fast-track" them through the warehouse to ensure immediate shipping. - Carrier Liaison:
Communicate with freight carriers and third-party logistics (3PL) providers to track shipments and resolve transit delays. - Discrepancy Resolution:
Investigate "short-ships," overages, or damaged goods reported by the receiving team or customers. - Warehouse Flow Optimization:
Identify bottlenecks in the picking or packing stations and reallocate resources to clear backlogs. - Documentation & Compliance:
Ensure all Bill of Ladings (BOLs), packing slips, and customs documents (for international shipping) are accurate and processed on time. - Fill Level: Perform functions to increase the potential fill levels for orders within the DC.
Skills & Qualifications
- Logistics Knowledge:
Understanding of freight classes, shipping modes (LTL, FTL, Parcel), and warehouse management systems (WMS). - High-Speed Coordination:
Ability to manage hundreds of SKUs and dozens of outgoing shipments simultaneously. - Systems Expertise:
Proficiency in WMS software (e.g., Dematic DIT, JDE, Legacy) and RF scanner technology. - Problem-Solving:
The ability to find an alternative shipping solution when a primary carrier fails or a weather delay occurs.
- Order Cycle Time:
The average time from when an order is placed to when it leaves the facility. - Shipping Accuracy:
Maintaining a low error rate for picked and packed items. - Dock-to-Stock Time:
How quickly inbound products are processed and made available.
Qualified candidates will offer a Bachelor’s degree in related field (preferred) or combination of Education plus 2+ years Supply Chain experience. Successful candidates should have knowledge of database, internet, inventory, spreadsheet software (MS Excel) and word processing. Strong interpersonal, oral/written communication and problem solving skills are essential as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
