The Operational Controller is responsible for providing financial leadership and analytical support to manufacturing operations. This position partners closely with plant and operations leadership to drive financial performance, improve cost visibility, maintain accurate product costing, support operational decision‑making, and ensure effective financial controls.

The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with hands‑on manufacturing finance experience and the ability to translate operational and financial data into actionable business insights.

• Provide financial leadership and support to plant and operations management.
• Manage and analyze manufacturing costs, including standard costs, actual costs, labor, overhead, material usage, and production variances.
• Perform detailed analysis of manufacturing variances, including purchase price, material usage, labor, overhead, scrap, and other production‑related variances.
• Analyze plant profitability, contribution margin, cost trends, productivity, and operational KPIs.
• Prepare monthly financial results, forecasts, budgets, and management reporting.
• Perform month‑end closing activities, including accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Partner with operations to identify cost‑reduction, productivity, and profitability improvement opportunities.
• Monitor inventory valuation, inventory reserves, cycle‑count adjustments, excess and obsolete inventory, and inventory‑related financial controls.
• Support capital expenditure analysis, tracking, and financial justification.
• Develop and maintain financial models, reports, dashboards, and KPI reporting for plant leadership.
• Analyze sales, volume, labor hours, headcount, earned hours, overtime, scrap, and other operational drivers affecting plant performance.
• Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards.
• Support internal and external audits as required.
• Identify financial risks and opportunities and communicate significant issues to management in a timely manner.
• Drive improvements in financial processes, reporting accuracy, data quality, and reporting efficiency.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing accounting and cost-accounting concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to investigate financial and operational variances.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis, large data sets, pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling.
• Ability to communicate financial information effectively to both financial and non‑financial stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally with operations, supply chain, engineering, purchasing, and other business functions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Five (5) or more years of manufacturing cost-accounting or manufacturing finance experience preferred.
• SAP experience preferred
