English Adjunct Instructor - Oklahoma Baptist University

Job Responsibilities

• Teach 1–3 English composition courses per semester as assigned.
• Prepare and distribute syllabi in accordance with university policy.
• Organize and direct learning experiences with assigned classes as outlined in the course syllabus and objectives.
• Meet classes as scheduled and required.
• Maintain accurate class records and submit reports and grades on time and as requested.
• Be available during office hours.
• Assist with departmental assessment of composition courses.

• Ability to conduct a college classroom that maximizes student learning.
• Demonstrated strong pedagogy with respect to curriculum and instruction.
• Excellent communication skills with a variety of constituents.
• Ability to assess student ability and adjust teaching as appropriate.
• Experience working effectively with college-age students in classes of around 20.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with office and educational technology, including Microsoft Office and classroom presentation technology.

• Master’s degree in English or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
• At least 18 graduate hours in English or a related discipline, with classroom teaching experience.
• Experience teaching undergraduates at an accredited four-year college or university.
• Commitment to the essentials of the Christian faith and willingness to integrate faith with academic instruction.
• Must be a member of a local evangelical Christian church.
• All positions are security sensitive and will require a criminal background check.

• Compensation varies based on education level.
• Mileage reimbursement may be available for candidates from outside the local area.
