The Impact You'll Make
Perform detailed engineering activities necessary to economically manufacture and assemble components, including selecting methods, tooling, gaging, and equipment to produce components specified by marketing and product engineering. This is a 1st Shift position, working Monday through Thursday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, with occasional overtime on Friday and/or Saturday.
What You’ll Be Doing- Coordinate manufacturing feasibility of new or existing products and recommend methods for manufacturing economies.
- Determine what machining method is most effective for the required product finish, tolerance, and quality. Also determine what assembly method is the most effective to build a quality product.
- Give technical direction for initiating and maintaining production capability of assigned components.
- Direct the procurement of specialized tools, fixtures and gauges by evaluating design concepts, initiating tool orders, and justifying expenditures. Support tooling, setup & related production requirements.
- Establish processes including programming of CNC machines, requesting and approving tooling and equipment, and originating operation instruction sheets in order to produce the product in a safe and economical manner.
- Participate as an evaluator in support of the Cell Certification Program.
- Provide manufacturing support documentation necessary for each operation.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technology through professional societies, periodicals, and vendor contacts.
- Analyze the manufacturing impact of vendor evaluations and participate in vendor selection decisions.
- Maintain a constant search for identifiable and measurable cost reductions through scrap analysis, technology applications, design modifications, and improved labor utilization.
- Prepare cost estimates and justifications, as necessary.
- Recommend DMR disposition and rework procedures.
- Provide shop support for tooling, setting up, and production requirements.
- Assist Supervisors in areas of responsibility in training new employees.
- Provide necessary interdepartmental communication between Engineering Production, Production Control, and others to accomplish assigned goals and objectives.
- Provide assistance & support to production supervisors in areas of employee on-the-job training needs.
- Perform related tasks and assignments as necessary.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Seven (7) to ten (10) years Manufacturing Experience
- All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
- Demonstrated ability to optimize time management, prioritize, and function in a highly organized manner.
- Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing tools
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Effective advanced and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent professional communication skills
Advanced Excel skills
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/industrial/manufacturing engineering.
Experience With ERP Systems PreferredExperience with ERP systems, and demonstrated technical writing ability.
Physical Requirements- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Occasional walking within warehouse or production areas
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (as needed)
- Frequent use of computers and office equipment
- Works in an environment where inattention could cause injury
- Combination of office and manufacturing/warehouse setting
- Exposure to noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures when on the production floor
