Machinist
This role focuses on setting up and operating CNC machines to manufacture and assemble perforating guns, which are specialized devices used to perforate oil and gas wells in preparation for production. You will work in a job-shop style environment, using both CNC and manual machining equipment to produce precision components according to blueprints and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision parts for perforating guns.
- Perform manual machining operations using manual mills and manual lathes as needed.
- Interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate dimensions and tolerances.
- Conduct machine setups, including tooling selection, fixture installation, and program loading on CNC equipment.
- Use Fanuc and Haas controls to run, adjust, and optimize CNC machining programs.
- Assist with or perform CNC programming for new and existing parts, including 5-axis and G&L machines where applicable.
- Inspect finished components to verify quality and conformance to specifications, making adjustments as required.
- Support manufacturing and assembly processes for perforating guns used in oil and gas well preparation.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures in the machining and assembly environment.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and participate in overtime opportunities as needed or requested.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of CNC machinist experience OR completion of education, training, or CNC schooling.
- Ability to set up and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Hands-on experience with manual machining, including manual lathes and manual mills.
- Familiarity with job-shop machining environments and varied part runs.
- Experience working with Fanuc and Haas CNC controls.
- Ability to perform CNC machine setup, including tooling, fixturing, and program loading.
- Basic CNC programming skills for mills and lathes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precision parts.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing setting.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shawnee, OK.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $30.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
