The Store Operations team works directly with store managers to integrate the Slingshot culture within campus partners. The role involves supporting campus retail operations, mail functions, and creating a welcoming environment for students. Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to step into various roles are essential.
Responsibilities- Creating a welcoming environment by greeting each customer and offering assistance.
- Maintaining store stock and appearance through creative displays and merchandising.
- Supporting sales in a way that builds rapport with customers.
- Managing and assisting mail operations.
- Setting a positive tone and serving as a role model of service, hard work, and creative problem‑solving.
- Providing direction to the store team and performing the duties of a store manager in their absence.
- Understanding the unique specifics of the institution while upholding core values of character, relationship, and innovation.
- Overseeing textbook sales, gift and merchandise sales, and campus mail operations as needed.
- Occasionally lifting packages up to 50 pounds.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ year of experience in retail, customer service, or a related role.
- Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and ability to follow through on responsibilities.
- Clear and professional communication with customers and team members.
- Basic comfort with technology and point‑of‑sale systems (training provided).
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on campus/store needs, including occasional evenings or weekends.
- 1+ year of experience in a keyholder, shift leader, supervisor, or assistant manager role.
- Experience in merchandising, inventory management, or bookstore/campus retail operations.
- Cash handling experience and familiarity with balancing registers or deposits.
- Experience training, coaching, or leading peers in a work setting.
- Interest in student development, campus engagement, or mission‑driven work environments.
