Role Overview

The Store Operations team works directly with store managers to integrate the Slingshot culture within campus partners. The role involves supporting campus retail operations, mail functions, and creating a welcoming environment for students. Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to step into various roles are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Creating a welcoming environment by greeting each customer and offering assistance.
  • Maintaining store stock and appearance through creative displays and merchandising.
  • Supporting sales in a way that builds rapport with customers.
  • Managing and assisting mail operations.
  • Setting a positive tone and serving as a role model of service, hard work, and creative problem‑solving.
  • Providing direction to the store team and performing the duties of a store manager in their absence.
  • Understanding the unique specifics of the institution while upholding core values of character, relationship, and innovation.
  • Overseeing textbook sales, gift and merchandise sales, and campus mail operations as needed.
  • Occasionally lifting packages up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of experience in retail, customer service, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and ability to follow through on responsibilities.
  • Clear and professional communication with customers and team members.
  • Basic comfort with technology and point‑of‑sale systems (training provided).
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule based on campus/store needs, including occasional evenings or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year of experience in a keyholder, shift leader, supervisor, or assistant manager role.
  • Experience in merchandising, inventory management, or bookstore/campus retail operations.
  • Cash handling experience and familiarity with balancing registers or deposits.
  • Experience training, coaching, or leading peers in a work setting.
  • Interest in student development, campus engagement, or mission‑driven work environments.
