Job Summary

Optimize the use of company assets in the acquisition of assigned goods and services. Create and execute short‑ and long‑term strategies to ensure quality and continuity of supply while minimizing total cost.

• Manage the MRP demand system, consolidate requirements, develop suitable ordering methods, and follow up to meet production demands.
• Participate in the qualification process for new suppliers, formulate RFQs, and develop the most suitable method of purchase or value‑added potential with suppliers.
• Enter all purchasing information on the system, including supplier details, purchase orders, pricing, supplier acknowledgment responses, and inventory information.
• Generate effective communications, maintain good relations, and present a positive image with suppliers and coworkers, promoting courtesy, objectivity, and fairness.
• Manage supplier relationships, develop key suppliers, and oversee processes and procedures.
• Manage supplier portal and contact suppliers as needed to inquire about deliveries, inform them of schedule changes, and report potential problems to the manager.
• Prepare new item numbers, specifications, and proper supplier selection in cooperation with engineering specifications. Gain familiarity with the end use of assigned commodities, leading to the possibility of alternative materials or specifications.
• Participate in negotiations with suppliers involving total cost of possession, legal requirements, and contract terms and conditions.
• Prepare supplier visits to the organization and off‑site visits to existing and potentially new suppliers.
• Develop useful reports pertinent to the supply chain function. Monitor designated item inventory for adherence to approved levels and determine disposition of surplus material, scrap, or other excess material by transfer, usage, or sale.
• Develop, create, and track product rejects, communicate results to suppliers and appropriate internal departments, and arrange for disposition of defective material.
• Advise the manager of market conditions and supplier base activity that could affect pricing and/or delivery.
• Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and costs and develop new supply sources when necessary.
• Develop objectives in concert with supply chain management team goals and monitor daily application of the purchasing procedures for compliance. Recommend changes as needed.
