Position Overview
Johnsonville LLC, a dynamic, high-growth company, has an opportunity for a results-driven, detail-oriented professional to lead the development and oversight of our domestic ingredient category. This role will negotiate pricing agreements and manage the strategic procurement of ingredients and artificial casings. This position will interact cross‑functionally with a wide range of functions and levels across the organization.
Responsibilities- Lead the strategic sourcing function for all purchased ingredients.
- Coach Ingredient Buyer(s) accountable for executing the sourcing strategy, providing day‑to‑day support, coaching and long‑term development.
- Build and enhance high trust, mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers.
- Proactively partner with suppliers to improve cost, quality and service.
- Collaborate with shareholders to address non‑conforming materials and mitigate business impact.
- Identify, propose and implement opportunities to reduce commodity‑related business risk.
- Lead sourcing activities for new products using a category management approach.
- Develop and maintain strong cross‑functional relationships with the R&D, FSQ and Operations teams.
- Initiate, negotiate, and implement supply agreements in a professional and ethical manner.
- Execute category scorecard to gauge performance and drive accountability.
- Collect and analyze market data resulting in delivery of commodity analysis and forecast.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of five years of pertinent experience required.
- Experience working with a wide range of external vendors is highly desired.
- Previous coaching or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong business, analytical and fiscal acumen; influenced by a high learning agility.
- Effective, persuasive communicator able to inspire confidence and trust.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage internal and external relationships effectively.
- Keen ability to understand customer and team needs in a highly collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead major projects and change management efforts.
- Confident presenter to internal and external teams.
- Knowledgeable in ERP/MRP systems, inventory control and purchasing law.
- Commitment to personal and team development.
- Self‑starter with strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to multitask and deliver results.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and take calculated risks.
- Proven negotiation skills.
- Highly organized with strong prioritization skills and the ability to focus on what matters most for the business.
