About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant to support our Finance team. This role will work closely with the Accountant II and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to manage core accounting functions including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accurately and on time
- Prepare and process checks for approvals and board meetings
- Provide employee wage information to Human Resources as needed
- Allocate and assign expenses to programs and funds under Finance Director guidance
- Maintain financial records in compliance with accepted accounting standards and procedures
- Update employee payroll with holdings for new hires, terminations, transfers, and changes
- Manage and monitor petty cash, ensuring proper documentation and controls
- Generate and issue invoices to clients/customers
- Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for financial statements
- Assist with general ledger reconciliation and financial reporting
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- Associate degree in Accounting or related field plus 3 to 5+ years of experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with 1+ years of experience preferred.
- Experience with Sage
50 or similar accounting software is a plus. - Strong understanding of accepted accounting practices and principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical thinking.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
