Certification & Compliance Project Engineer – Industrial Equipment

The Certification & Compliance Project Engineer – Industrial Equipment is a key technical contributor within the Product Development organization, responsible for driving product certification and compliance activities to ensure industrial generator systems meet global regulatory requirements and business objectives. This role applies expertise in international standards and regulations to develop and execute certification strategies, coordinate testing with regulatory authorities and third‑party agencies, and maintain the technical documentation required for global market access.

Working cross‑functionally with engineering and product development teams, the engineer operates with a high degree of autonomy while driving continuous improvement in compliance tools and processes. The position also supports emissions compliance and proactively identifies and mitigates certification risks throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance on standards and regulations related to engines, emissions, and industrial generator systems
  • Partner with product development teams to define, implement, and maintain certification strategies for new and existing products
  • Lead exhaust emissions documentation, certification, and compliance activities for internally and externally sourced engines
  • Coordinate certification testing and compliance activities with government agencies and independent third‑party organizations
  • Develop, maintain, and manage technical files to support regulatory submissions and market access
  • Identify and mitigate regulatory risks throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Monitor and communicate changes in applicable standards and regulations, ensuring timely updates to internal stakeholders and business leaders
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support certification budget and timeline forecasts for new product development and sustaining engineering efforts
  • Drive continuous improvement of compliance processes, tools, and documentation practices
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field)
  • 3–5 years of experience in product compliance, certification, quality, product development, or manufacturing roles
  • Knowledge of engine emissions regulations and certification processes
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead initiatives independently
  • Experience working with standards and regulations (EPA, CARB, ISO, IEC, UL, CE, etc.)
  • Experience coordinating testing and certification activities with external agencies
  • Strong documentation skills with technical and certification files
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with industrial generators, engines, or power systems
  • Background in emissions compliance (diesel or gaseous engines)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems
  • Experience working with global regulatory bodies and third‑party certification agencies

Salary

The Salary range for this position is $83,300.00–$. The specific salary rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
