Job Requirements
- Read work order and follow instructions to determine which material or containers need to be moved.
- Convey material from storage or work site to designated areas by hand truck or forklift.
- Count, weigh, and record the number of units of material moved or handled on the material charge sheet.
- Maintain accurate daily inventory by charging in and out all materials needed for each job.
- Clean the hopper of raw material from the last run.
- From the shop order, determine the type and quantity of material needed, such as virgin, regrind or color concentrate.
- Determine if materials require drying; if so, place a drying cone in the dryer, pour in materials, set the temperature and timer.
- Place virgin material from gaylord into a 55‑gallon drum, weighing out 200 pounds at a time to ensure the actual weight from the gaylord, then charge out the same weight. Place raw materials in a 55‑gallon drum and transfer to the tumbler by hand truck.
- When mixing is done, convey the mixed material from drum to hopper using a material pail. Place material in storage area for easy retrieval, accurately adjusting inventory records.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas such as mezzanine, hoppers, and material warehouse, avoid cross‑contamination, and observe all safety procedures.
- Clean grinders and grind scrap from jobs. Assist and train operators and packers on cleaning the grinders, and help them determine what can be ground and in what grinder.
- Assist machine operators on a daily basis and help with daily functions.
- Collaborate with day/night shift material handlers in daily preparations.
- Ability to perform job duties satisfactorily, including basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, percentages) and legible handwriting.
- Ability to read, interpret, and write routine report documents such as safety rules, procedure manuals, operating instructions, and inspection reports.
- Problem‑solving skills: define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions (oral, verbal, written, visual, or mathematical).
- Physical demands: the position requires lifting, moving, and operating equipment such as hand trucks and forklifts.
