The Mechanical Assembler
The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for producing and assembling machine(s) and machine parts according to specifications.
Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions of the Job- Reads and follows entry-level blueprints, shop orders, specifications, and other instructions to build and assemble parts and equipment accurately and on time.
- Measures parts accurately using scales, micrometers, and calipers.
- Utilizes overhead crane and rigging procedures.
- Operates material handling equipment.
- Maintains a clean work area.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepares parts for painting.
- Participates in department clean‑up and improvement projects.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Strong mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and metric conversions.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and manufacturing instructions.
- Knowledge and ability to use hand tools and machine tools such as drill press, band saw, cut‑off saw, and grinder.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Collaborative mindset, including in‑person solution development.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Preference for experience with CAD documents.
- Preference for experience operating material handling equipment.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, electrical, and pneumatics is a plus.
- Preferred ability to travel internationally and domestically.
- The incumbent will use safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, and safety shoes while performing duties.
- Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, reach above shoulders, and use feet to operate machinery; regularly talks, listens, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls; frequently stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle, touch, and moves from place to place. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Occasionally lifts up to 75 pounds; regularly lifts up to 50 pounds; frequently lifts up to 25 pounds.
- Utilizes hand tools, portable power tools, measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, scales and indicators, overhead cranes and forklifts, stationary power tools such as lathe, band saw, grinder, tap & die equipment, and a computer.
- Works in a factory environment with occasional exposure to high places, fumes, and airborne particles. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts. Occasional travel on company business. The noise level is normally loud and can become very loud when using specific equipment.
- All employees are expected to participate in safety and health program activities, including reporting hazards, unsafe work practices, and accidents immediately to supervisors or safety committee members; wearing required personal protective equipment and supporting safety committee activities.
