Producing high‑quality products for our customers and consumers to enjoy starts with immaculate facilities. As a member of Johnsonville’s sanitation team, you’ll ensure all our facilities are cleaned in accordance with strict procedures to meet or exceed our high sanitation and food‑safety standards. Working with chemicals, hoses, lifts and other equipment, you’ll ensure the facilities are ready for the next shift of production.
Position OverviewThe Sanitation Assistant Team Leader will act as a proactive change agent in the manufacturing facility and provide support and direction to members of a work team. The leader will lead, motivate, and train members to achieve production results, improve skills, and enhance teamwork; ensure compliance with safety, quality, and sanitation requirements; function as a technical and business resource in system operations and production;
work toward continuous improvements in line performance by leading actions for assigned lines; and build effective relationships to foster innovation and cooperation. The leader will conduct daily sanitation practices, working online with members in the area the leader owns, to ensure equipment is clean and ready for production.
- Effectively lead the team in safety, quality, and performance
- Evaluate and coordinate training needs for sanitation team members
- Evaluate staffing needs of lines and maintain budgeted resources to maximize output
- Coach and guide team members in development and manage disciplinary processes
- Daily scheduling and effective resource allocation
- Monitor team performance, provide feedback and document results through appraisals
- Manage member relations with the team and co‑workers
- Conduct team meetings
- Complete daily performance reports and shift paperwork
- Communicate information to members effectively
- Lead process improvement initiatives
- Develop and execute improvement plans in all critical success areas
- Create and promote a team environment, manage conflict, and resolve issues
- Act as a role model to all members
- Manage all aspects of safety, address issues immediately, and be a safety champion
- Maintain sanitation inventory
- Work closely with chemical suppliers to determine department focus
- Monitor bacteria counts and take corrective actions
- Participate in selection for open positions
- Ensure timely completion of master sanitation schedule
- Work closely with USDA inspectors
- Actively participate in daily sanitation of equipment
- Prior experience in leadership/supervision
- Knowledge of secondary languages preferred

- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen, physical, and background check
