American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring 2 years of Med Surg experience and WI or compact RN license.
Details- Float Pool position in a 101-bed Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center
- Units include MS1 General Medical Surgical, MS2 Ortho/Neuro, and MS2 Cardiac, with floating to any unit housing Med Surg patients including ER Holding/Boarding
- Patient population includes oncology (non-chemo administration), limited pediatric patients (ages 1+, non-peds unit), general surgical cases (gallbladder, appendectomy, colectomy, ostomy, TURP), general medical cases (cellulitis, GI bleeds, CHF, COPD), ortho (total hips/knees/shoulders), neuro (spine surgery, stroke, TIA, altered mental status), and cardiac (post-procedure, heart failure, arrhythmias)
- Patient ratios are 1:4-6 on days and 1:6 on nights

- Active WI or compact RN license
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience required
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Skills required:
chest tube care, stable trach management, IV insertion, port/central line care, foley insertion/care, feeding tube management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP/Airvo - Drip titration experience (Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, argatroban) preferred, manager approval required if not experienced
- Cardiac post-procedure experience preferred, manager approval required if not experienced
- Candidate DOB and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
- Minimum one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Provide direct patient care across Med Surg, Ortho/Neuro, and Cardiac units with potential float assignments throughout the hospital
- Support staff includes HUC (days only), CNAs, charge nurse, phlebotomy, RT, hospitalist coverage 24/7, and PT/OT/ST on weekdays
- Remote tele monitoring support available, though travelers may occasionally monitor patients if tele techs are short-staffed
- Orientation includes one full shift for login/paperwork and EPIC training plus one 12-hour shift of unit orientation
- Scrubs must be a solid, professional color with no graphics or logos
