Test Lab Technician
Job Description
The Test Lab Technician supports the development and validation of home energy products through hands-on testing and laboratory operations. This role sets up and conducts tests, fabricates and assembles test fixtures and equipment, operates data acquisition systems, performs experiments, and documents test results with precision. The position is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced product development environment while collaborating closely with engineers.
Responsibilities
+ Set up and execute product tests and experimental evaluations for home energy products.
+ Fabricate, assemble, and modify test fixtures and equipment to support testing activities.
+ Configure and operate data acquisition systems to collect accurate and reliable test data.
+ Perform hands-on experiments and ensure tests follow established procedures and safety guidelines.
+ Accurately document test procedures, observations, measurements, and results in a clear and organized manner.
+ Support engineers with troubleshooting issues identified during testing and assist in product validation activities.
+ Assist with analysis of test data and provide feedback on product performance and test outcomes.
+ Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment, including proper use, storage, and care of tools and equipment.
+ Use general mechanical skills, including working with engines and related components, as needed for test setups and evaluations.
Essential Skills
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with tools, fixtures, and mechanical assemblies.
+ Demonstrated troubleshooting skills, particularly in a laboratory or technical environment.
+ Experience using Microsoft Office Suite to document test results, prepare reports, and manage data.
+ Experience using test equipment and data collection tools (preferred).
+ Ability to configure and operate data acquisition systems or similar instrumentation (preferred).
+ Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate, complete records of tests and experiments.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation and test execution.
+ Comfort working with engines and mechanical systems as part of test setups and evaluations.
+ Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced product development environment and support multiple testing activities.

Skills & Qualifications
+ Prior experience in a test lab or product validation environment is beneficial.
+ Familiarity with home energy products or related technologies is an advantage.
+ Ability to collaborate closely with engineers and technical staff to support troubleshooting and validation.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues during testing.
+ Good organizational skills to manage multiple tests, equipment, and documentation simultaneously.
Work Environment
This role is based in a laboratory environment supporting two labs dedicated to home energy products. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The position involves hands-on work with test fixtures, equipment, engines, and data acquisition systems, as well as regular use of computers and Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting.
The lab environment emphasizes safety, organization, and efficiency, with frequent collaboration with engineers and other technical staff in a dynamic product development setting.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Sheboygan, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
