Facilities Maintenance Technician
BW Paper systems is hiring a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our team. The role involves machine, building, and grounds maintenance, electrical, plumbing and carpentry maintenance and repair, HVAC installation and maintenance, millwrighting, crane operation, and related services throughout the plant, offices, and grounds.
Responsibilities- Prepare and submit estimates for buildings, machine improvements, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or other work within scope of responsibilities.
- Contact outside contractors, vendors, or others and initiate requisitions for major service requirements; supervise service provided by outside companies.
- Perform periodic inspections of firefighting equipment, cranes, slings, and other material handling equipment.
- Maintain all necessary records, drawings, sketches, and records in an up‑to‑date, on‑demand condition.
- Plan and arrange daily work using authorized requisitions, work orders, blueprints, or other data to meet maintenance requirements and control costs with minimal interference to production.
- Check availability of materials and initiate requisitions for standard or special items.
- Collaborate with other departments to schedule work to minimize impact on production time.
- Eliminate safety hazards; maintain equipment and working areas in safe, orderly condition.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Functional/technical skills in industrial maintenance; familiarity with machine shop operations, high‑voltage electrical and mechanical building codes and regulations; knowledge of EPA and OSHA requirements.
- Solid understanding of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and continuous‑improvement philosophy.
- Innovative problem‑solving skills, strong project and time‑management, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with broad, general objectives and limits; independently solve problems while interfacing at all organizational levels.
- Proficiency with computer‑based programs such as Microsoft 365 suite.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Five (5) years of working experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Two (2) or more years of experience with machine tool knowledge or machine shop experience.
