We are seeking a Warehouse Shipping & Receiving Supervisor to lead daily warehouse operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing the movement of inbound raw materials and outbound finished products, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring efficient loading dock operations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on warehouse leader with experience supervising shipping, receiving, and inventory activities. This individual should be highly organized, safety-focused, and capable of coordinating with multiple departments to support smooth production and customer delivery schedules.
Key Responsibilities Warehouse Operations- Supervise daily shipping, receiving, and warehouse activities to ensure timely and accurate material flow.
- Assign and monitor warehouse staff responsibilities, including picking, packing, loading, unloading, and staging of materials.
- Maintain orderly dock operations and ensure efficient use of warehouse space and equipment.
- Support a safe and clean working environment by enforcing warehouse safety procedures and housekeeping standards.
- Review customer and transfer orders to verify correct quantities, packaging, labeling, and shipping instructions.
- Coordinate shipments with regional and national carriers, including LTL, full truckload, and specialized freight services.
- Plan truckloads and delivery schedules to maximize transportation efficiency and meet customer deadlines.
- Prepare and manage shipping documentation for domestic and international shipments.
- Track shipments, resolve transportation issues, and evaluate freight options for cost-effective delivery solutions.
- Inspect incoming materials and compare shipments against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Record inventory transactions accurately in the company’s ERP or warehouse management system.
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, rotation, and organization of materials and finished goods.
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with inventory audits to maintain high inventory accuracy.
- Monitor inventory discrepancies and work with purchasing, production, and quality teams to resolve issues.
- Provide guidance, training, and performance support to warehouse team members.
- Promote teamwork and effective communication across shipping, receiving, production, and customer service functions.
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse processes, material flow, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in Lean or continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste and improving productivity.
- Assist with special operational needs, including occasional weekend or Saturday shipping support when required.
- 4+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or inventory coordination within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- 3+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a warehouse or logistics setting.
- Valid forklift certification and experience operating material-handling equipment.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems, warehouse management systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong understanding of inventory control practices, material handling, and warehouse organization.
- Excellent planning, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while leading a small team and collaborating with cross-functional departments.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices is preferred.
