Project Draftsman

Overview

Job Title: Construction AutoCAD Project Draftsman. North Coast Design Build is seeking a skilled professional to produce accurate, detailed technical drawings for commercial construction projects. The candidate will translate concepts, redlines, and field conditions into high-quality construction documents and follow company CAD guidelines including naming conventions, data storage, and layout standards.

• Create and revise AutoCAD drawings including site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, structural and framing details, and MEP drawings.
• Convert sketches, markups, and PDFs into accurate CAD files.
• Coordinate drawings with the lead project designer, in-house engineer, and project managers.
• Maintain organized CAD files and drawing logs.
• Assist with permit, bid, and construction documents.
• Update drawings based on field conditions and RFIs.
• Meet project deadlines while maintaining accuracy and consistency.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting required; 3D a plus).
• Understanding of construction methods, materials, and terminology.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects as well as collaborate with other project designers.
• Excellent communication skills.

• Associate’s degree or certification in Drafting, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in commercial or residential construction.
• Previous experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar software.
• Knowledge of local permitting and inspection processes.
• Field experience or construction background.
