SUMMER RISING 6th-9th MATH TEACHER – VACANCY NOTICE AND JOB DESCRIPTION

Sheffield City Schools

Reports To: Summer Principal/Assistant Superintendent

Job Goal: To improve student proficiency in critical math standards

Qualifications: Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate in Secondary Mathematics (Preferred);
Knowledge and understanding of the math standards

Duties and Responsibilities:

Must be proficient and highly effective in the area of math for grades 6-9 with quantifiable supporting data.

Must be proficient and highly effective in AMSTI math.

Determines individual and class needs based on interpretation of student data.

Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences.

Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.

Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.

Exhibits positive human relations skills.

Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress.

Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups.

Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.

Maintains and submits records and reports.

Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations.

Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.

Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Terms of Employment: Compensation: $250.00/day for 7:30-1:30 schedule.

Beginning:
May 30 (Planning/Set Up Day) - June 25 Monday – Thursday

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
