Structures Inspector - Highways

Hours: 40 per week over 5 days (occasional weekend or weeknights required)

With nationwide coverage and over 30 years’ experience, we offer clients bespoke project support using specialist difficult access methods.

What you will be doing

Reporting to the Structures Inspection Manager, you are responsible for carrying inspecting a variety of structures throughout the UK in accordance with the required technical standards/specifications.

The majority of the role is forming part of a team that carries out inspection on highway infrastructure projects. Weekday and weekend night shifts are a factor of Highway work and as part of the role you are expected to work occasional weekend shifts as per business needs. Occasionally we have projects that require you to work alone.

Key Tasks / Responsibilities:

• Inspect a variety of structures throughout the UK in accordance with the required technical standards/specifications.
• Lead the safe and successful delivery of Structural Inspections, Investigations and Surveys.
• Prepare inspection reports, including the production of drawings within CAD.
• To ensure all work assigned by the team leader is carried out safely and to timescale.
• To ensure that you work and comply within the personal responsibilities detailed in the current Health and Safety legislation and to assist in the Company quality objectives of no accidents.
• To ensure that all equipment, including personal protective equipment issued is fit for purpose and safety checked before each job assignment.
• Assist in other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role.

Skills and Capabilities

• BICS (or working towards)
• CSCS card
• Confined Space Entry (desired)
• Previous experience in highway inspections – bridges, culverts, retaining walls, ancillary structures
• Education to Level 3 (A Level or equivalent)
• Flexibility to travel and work nights/weekends where required
• Full UK driving license
