We are recruiting on behalf of our client for two Deputy Managers to join a childrens residential home in the South Yorkshire area. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced senior residential practitioners or existing Deputy Managers who are passionate about safeguarding, leadership, and achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
AboutThe Role
As Deputy Manager, you will play a key leadership role within the home, supporting the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the service and deputising in their absence. You will help create a safe, supportive, and child‑focused environment in line with safeguarding policies, legislation, and best practice standards. You will lead shifts, supervise staff, and ensure the highest standards of care are consistently delivered.
Key Responsibilities- Safeguard children and promote their welfare at all times
- Support and deputise for the Home Manager when required
- Lead shifts and oversee the day‑to‑day allocation of duties
- Assist with rota management and staffing arrangements
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and client policies
- Provide leadership, supervision and motivation to staff
- Mentor and support new and less experienced team members
- Contribute to and review placement plans, risk assessments, and care reports
- Maintain accurate and high-quality written records
- Ensure effective handovers and smooth shift transitions
- Monitor key work sessions and childrens progress
- Promote the rights of children and advocate where appropriate
- Participate in the on‑call system
- Support quality assurance and monitoring systems
- Work a 7‑day shift pattern including days, nights, sleep‑ins, weekends and Bank Holidays
- Experience working in a childrens residential setting
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Experience supervising or leading shifts
- Excellent report writing and organisational skills
- Ability to motivate and develop staff
- Understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory standards
- Commitment to promoting positive outcomes for children and young people
- Competitive salary of up to £43,900
